Waiting Period: Your benefits will start after a 3-month waiting period from the time you join.
Membership Activation: Your membership becomes active once you’ve paid both the joining fee and your first monthly membership fee.
Advance Contributions: We recommend paying your compassionate contributions in advance for 12 months along with your monthly premiums. This ensures that the society has enough reserves to support members when needed. After this period, you’ll only contribute when there’s an actual funeral.
Funeral Contributions: When a member passes away, all members are required to contribute to support the family. These contributions must be made within 48 hours after the death is announced.
Cash Payouts: The society handles all cash payouts. Once the death of a member is confirmed, we will make the payout within 48 hours.
Payout Destination: Cash payouts for burials are made to a South African bank account.
Missed Contributions: If you miss a contribution, it will either be deducted from your account or added to your arrears.
Clearing Arrears: Any overdue contributions must be settled within 3 months.
Supporting Each Other: Members who live near a deceased member are expected to visit and support the family during this time.
Communication: We’ll post death notices and important updates on our website and social media. Please stay informed by checking WhatsApp and other communication channels regularly.
Meeting Participation: You’re expected to attend society meetings at least once every three months.
Attendance Penalty: If you miss the funeral of a member in your area, you’ll be fined R20.
Payout Process: We will only process cash payouts after verifying the death through a death certificate or other necessary documents.
Membership Cancellation: Membership can be canceled either by you or by the society. If you repeatedly fail to make payments, your membership may be canceled, though this will take some time to process.
Branch Guidelines: Each branch operates according to rules outlined in our constitution and other relevant documents, which cover member conduct and responsibilities.
Membership Limit: Each branch of the society can have up to 600 members, including parents and spouses.
Stay Informed: As a member, you have a role in the society’s success. It’s important to keep up with news and announcements to stay engaged.
